I thought some of the story arc paid out, but I agree most of them didn't and the pacing was incredibly wonky at times. Compared to Baccano! which is just tight and masterfully told, it just doesn't look good for Durarara!! I agree with the lack of self awareness in D!! as well.

you analysis on the creepiness of Celty/Shinra (and Clare/Chane) is brilliant and spot on. Nothing to add to that.

I did like most of the characters still, so I guess that's why I didn't dislike D!! as much as you did. But Baccano! is clearly superior.
